Case Study: JoJo Ventures Brings Pixar-Style Magic to Pfizer’s Latest Campaign

In the fast-paced world of digital marketing, pharmaceutical brands face a unique challenge: how to deliver rigorous medical information while maintaining a warm, human connection with the audience.

Following the success of our previous two collaborations, JoJo Ventures was recently invited back by Pfizer to produce a new social media campaign for their antidepressant, Pristiq. Our mission was to translate the clinical benefits of the medication—specifically its high treatment adherence and low side-effect profile—into an approachable, animated narrative that resonates with the Hong Kong public.

From Concept to 3D Reality

Building on the trust established in our prior projects, the Pfizer team provided us with a foundational storyboard featuring character concepts and core taglines. The creative mandate was clear: a high-end “Pixar-style” aesthetic that felt distinctly local to Hong Kong.

 

Our first step involved bringing these 2D concepts into the third dimension. Using Google Nano Banana Pro, we transformed the initial sketches into fully realized 3D characters, imbuing them with the expressive textures and warm lighting necessary for modern cinematic storytelling.

 

 

To ensure the story felt authentic to its target audience, we developed a series of moodboards that placed our 3D leads within iconic Hong Kong settings. This synthesis of high-end animation and local street-level realism helped finalize the art direction before we moved into full production.

 

 

Precision and Efficiency through AI

With the visual language established, we moved into a more granular storyboard phase to lock down the pacing and emotional beats of the video.

 

 

For the actual animation, we utilized Kling to execute the vision. One of the primary advantages of our AI-integrated workflow is the sheer speed of delivery. We were able to provide the first draft in just three days and complete the entire production within a week.

However, speed never came at the expense of quality. Our team generated multiple iterations for key scenes to provide Pfizer with the best possible creative choices. For instance, in a scene depicting a woman at work, we explored various camera angles and emotional nuances to ensure her journey toward recovery felt both relatable and sincere.

 

 

Solving the Cantonese Complexity

The most technical hurdle of the project was the voiceover. While AI voice synthesis is highly advanced for English and Mandarin, Cantonese presents a unique challenge due to its intricate “nine tones.” A slight shift in pitch can entirely change the meaning of a word.

Working with Minimax, we encountered moments where the AI struggled with specific medical or recovery-related terms. To solve this, our team developed a phonetic “bridge” technique. When the AI mispronounced a word like “recovery” (康復), we would replace the text input with customized English phonetics (such as “hong fuk”) to nudge the model into the correct tonal frequency. This meticulous “human-in-the-loop” adjustment resulted in a final delivery that sounds indistinguishable from a native speaker.
